Patricia Ellis Pengarte
Patricia Ellis Pengarte is an Eastern Arrente women from Central Australia with a proud First Nations artistic heritage.
The redoubtable artist Aunty Glenda Hayes, now an astonishing 100-years-old, is her grandmother on her father's side.
Aunty Teresa Ryder, a famed landscape water colourist and also painter of bush foods in the dreaming style, is her cousin on her father's side. Sadly Teresa passed away in 2023.
Paula Hayes is Patricia’s Aunty, and another Hayes, Bernadine, whose etched clap sticks and smaller paintings we have in the gallery, is her cousin.
The very accomplished painter Christine Nakamara Brown is also an Aunty with a long legacy of work already behind her.
All of these women are established artists, from whom Patricia has learnt her dreaming stories. Her own style is as unique as it is unexpected and she will apply her art wherever she sees fit.
The tables Patricia made for the gallery are truly a sight to behold with their incredible level of detail, attention to craft and relation to country. They are quality pieces that will live on, providing their own legacy to the families lucky enough to purchase them.
