Seven Sisters Dreaming

THE well-established Warlpiri artist Maureen Nampijinpa Hudson is renowned for her Tali (sand dune) depictions that feature her homeland in the Tanami Desert, north-west of Alice Springs. She has also offered, in the past, paintings associated with the women’s ceremonies that take place around the artists birth place of Mt Allan.

Maureen’s Seven Sisters depiction shows her subtle skills in abundance with the Sisters sitting as if they've pushed open a door in the Milky Way to sit in the immensity of the night sky while their grandfather looks over them to ensure their pursuer is kept at bay.
