Bush Medicine & Seeds

BORN in the bush at Kurnilwarri between Tjukurla and Patjarr in the Gibson desert, Maryanne is married to senior law man Kelly Peterman, a Director of Tjarlirli Art Centre at Tjukurla, WA. They live nearby, with their children, at the Docker River community, on the border of Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Striking in its simplicity Bush Medicine & Seeds adds another layer to Maryanne's bush medicine depictions, her proud stories of the work that women do, by loosing all the colour her subject may have had in order to reveal their true beauty.

A truly remarkable painting when veiwed as a canvas, this depiction with its finely wrought shadings has always held us in awe.
