JUDY is another artist who hails from Ernabella, in the APY Lands, South Australia.
A prominent artist represented by Glenelg Art Gallery, her work featured in the International 11th Naif Art Festival in Kosovich, Poland in 2018.
Judy often paints the traditional women's stories of walking together across Country, looking after it, clearing water holes and gathering food and medicines.
This is a subject she has painted before of two couples out in the desert, yet rarely with such a profound and beguiling simplicity. The earth tones of the desert are like a camouflage upon which sits the campsite, with the central circle occupied by the women and one, in the top right corner, by the men.
The fact that the women occupy the central circle shows the importance of the women's role in looking after Country.
