BARBARA is from a highly respected family that have long lived in the APY Lands around Fregon.
She takes pride in painting her community in a style that bears similarity to the venerable Taylor Cooper. Her work has been sought after for many years and is prominent in public and private collections across Australia.
She was a prominent member of the Iwiri Art Centre in Adelaide until she sadly passed in April, 2024.
Kanypi is a dreaming of a settlement in the APY Lands and also means ‘good food’ in the language of the Pitjantjatjara people. For Barbara and all her people, the provision of food supplies and the health of people in remote communities is of utmost importance.
