Paper Daisies

JOSEPHINE’S father Stanley Lennon was born at The Breakaways, an arid desert on the outskirts of Coober Pedy. Stanley was also a professional artist whose chosen style of painting was the landscape.

Her mother Verna Lawrie, a proud Mirining Elder, also painted. In her case, the whale dreamings of the Nullarbor.

Looking at Paper Daisies, you cannot help feeling that heritage coming through the work. Part landscape, part abstraction, all celebration of another warrior of the desert.
