LIKE a dream view from on high the Seven Sisters shine above the contours of the land, their colour reflecting their strength in the face of the cooler interloper, the old man Tjilpi who would love to have them all for his own.
The Sisters from Yankunytjatjara Country were travelling with their parents through the Pitjantjatjura Country when, on the setting of the sun, Tjilpi noticed them and began falling in love.
As Tjilpi followed he was noticed by the Sisters parents and they sought to hide from him all the way through the Pitjantjatjara lands, stopping at camp sites to rest. As it became impossible to keep them all together, the parents asked the eldest daughter to take care of her six younger sisters.
Months passed after the parents had gone until they were reunited at the camp again. Their happiness and joy was sustained as their daughters were turned into the stars that form the Pleaides constellation because they knew their daughters were now safe from Tjilpi.
