ROXANNE is a respected member of the Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation located at Yuendumu, 300km north-west of Alice Springs. Since establishment in 1985, Warlukurlangu has swollen its membership to include over 600 members.
Roxanne focusses her attention on dreamings close to the role of women in Country and this gallery has a beautiful example in her Honey Ant Dreaming piece.
Body painting is integral to Aboriginal culture and is used in ceremonies, storytelling, and rites of passage. Carrying deep spiritual and cultural significance, the designs are more than just decoration — they represent identity, kinship, and connection to Country.
Their significance is not lost here as the regular striped lines often used in body painting have been opened to reveal the significance and the multiple dimensions of their world in Country.
What may look like an enigma and mystery all in one, is really a sgnificant story of its own.
