IT'S no surprise that Bernadine's bold and distinctive painting style should be so highly sought after. She has emerged from a family of famous artists including Abie Loy and Petrick Kemarre whose home is in the Utopia region of the Northern Territory.
She was born around 1974, in Santa Teresa, east of Alice Springs and is married to Stephen Pitjara Martin. Both live with their children in Adelaide. She shares with Stephen too a love of a precise painting style with colours that serve to draw deeper attention to the painted work.
She has often painted the stories of Womens Business - the gathering of bush tucker and medicine leaves - which are so essential for communities on country to thrive and survive.
