ALISON hails from the town of Yuelamu in the Northern Territory, an area rich in Indigenuous artistry and the home of Inkwareny Artists, a collective that has been running since October 2023 to celebrate and preserve the region's cultural heritage.
Alison's work is strongly infused with her ancestral stories and her fire and water dreamings. She has delivered here her own generous tribute to her community to match the prominence she holds in Yuelamu.
Early last year the collective held an exhibition at Lot19 Gallery in Castlemaine, Victoria where over 80 paintings were exhibited with many sold on the opening night. Alison travelled with Inkwareny Artists deputy chair Shonelle Pwerrerl Stafford and Manager Natalie Moxham to attend the opening. It is a relationship the community sees continuing into the future and shows the level of esteem that Alison holds with her people.
